You’ve done the work, you practice regularly … exercises, stretches, Pilates, Hypopressives, … Maybe you’ve been consistent for months, even years.

And things have improved … sometimes massively, sometimes just a little and sometimes it feels not at all. Perhaps there are some moments or situations where something still doesn’t quite feel right.

Perhaps when you are out jogging, running, you did an enthusiastic jump, a sudden movement or some dance moves. Or there is simply a sense that connection or support isn’t always there when you need it.

This can feel confusing — especially when you are doing all the “right” things.

When progress isn’t the whole picture

Improvement doesn’t always mean everything is fully resolved.

Sometimes, what remains is more subtle:

• timing rather than strength
• responsiveness rather than effort
• how the body reacts in dynamic or unexpected situations

And sometimes, the body simply needs a different kind of support.

And sometimes… things haven’t improved at all

For some, despite trying different approaches, the expected changes haven’t happened.

This can be frustrating, and at times disheartening.

It’s important to say: you’re not doing it wrong.

The body is complex, and pelvic floor and core health are influenced by many factors — including nervous system responses, tissue sensitivity, past experiences, and how different parts of the body work together.

Support beyond exercises

Alongside movement and therapeutic work, there are tools that can support the body in a different way — not by adding more effort, but by encouraging responsiveness and awareness throughout the day.

One example is Soma Flex®, developed by women’s health physiotherapist Sandra Whittle. It is designed to be worn internally and responds to movement, gently encouraging the pelvic floor to engage and release in a more natural, dynamic way.

For those experiencing sensitivity, dryness, or discomfort — including conditions such as vaginismus — supportive products can also play a role in helping the body feel safer and more at ease.

I often recommend NAYDAYA, whose intimicay products are designed to:
• support hydration and tissue health
• soften and soothe
• encourage gentle, comfortable contact

These are not replacements for treatment or professional support, but they can be helpful alongside a wider, more integrated approach.

A broader perspective

Pelvic floor and core health are not just about doing more exercises.

They are about how the body:

  • responds

  • adapts

  • and feels

Sometimes, the next step is not more effort — but a different kind of support.

If you’re navigating this kind of experience and would like a more individual approach, you’re very welcome to get in touch or explore working together.
