"I see each person as an orchestra with their own
rhythms.
When the individual instruments play
their parts, we have harmony."
My own journey into movement and bodywork began in 2000 when a physiotherapist friend
recommended
I try Pilates to help with a shoulder injury. So off I went and did just that. I loved it so much that
I left the corporate world and I have not looked back! I have been immersed in the study and application
of human movement, anatomy, manual therapy and breathwork ever since. I have been working in a variety of teams and places incl.
a Physiotherapy practice, a Complementary Health Centre, a Women's Health Centre and with corporate clients.
Today I am as passionate about the body in movement as I was then. It is this
passion that keeps
me striving in my vocations as a manual therapist and movement teacher to find ways for
each client to become more aware of their body and
their whole self,
so that they can enjoy moving with more ease, with less/no pain, prevent injuries,
recover from
injuries & surgeries, breathe better and feel better and healthier overall. I have a
special interest in back care and in women's health. I
provide advice and exercises for ante-natal and post-natal care as well as for
menopause and osteoporosis.
I have studied Structural Integration (ATSI) with Tom Myers and James Earls, Advanced
Myofascial
Techniques (CAMT Level 1) with Til Luchau, Active Fascial Release (AFR) with James Earls and
ScarWork™ Therapy
by Sharon Wheeler. I hold an MSc in Dance Science from Laban in London, a diploma in
Applied Functional
Science (Gray Institute) and a diploma in Somatic Movement Education (Franklin
Institute). I am a
Yoga Alliance International certified graduate of CamYoga Teacher training (RYT 200)
and am Pilates
certified by Polestar Pilates and Body Control Pilates. During my studies and
practice I meet wonderful
teachers and I have made friends from other somatic schools and practices such as
Feldenkrais and
Body-Mind Centering and those teachings keep influencing my own practice and my
work.
For my fitness I swim and I walk. When a foot injury some years ago put a stop to my
running I turned to Nordic Walking. I have been swinging my Nordic Walking poles ever since
and in February 2022 I qualified as a Nordic Walking Instructor with British Nordic Walking (INWA)
so that I can share this wonderful outdoor practice and its many benefits.
My client base covers a broad spectrum and all ages. I currently work in a Wellness & Fitness
Centre in Greenwich and I
teach regular Pilates and Yoga classes both online and in a local community centre in Blackheath.
Nordic Walking workshops and classes take place in South-East London in and around Greenwich and
Blackheath.
