Advanced Myofascial Techniques
Advanced Myofascial Techniques are a unique blend of tools that are used to address physical complaints and to help with relieving pain (e.g. back and hip pain, neck and shoulder issues, headaches, joint pain, sciatica, etc.), restoring lost function & ultimately getting lasting results. Deep, direct touch and subtle, receptive touch are interwoven with active and passive movements and with breath to enhance the effectiveness of the treatments.
This work is extremely useful in profound ways: by increasing options for movement and by refining awareness so that the body can be felt in new and enhanced ways. As a result, pain, athletic performance, daily movements and well-being, can all improve. The emphasises of this work centers on the human interaction between practitioner and client so the WHOLE person is seen, heard and helped.
Structural Integration -
Whole Body MOT
Structural Integration - aka as SI or as I sometimes describe it as 'the whole body MOT' - is a multi-session bodywork treatment of your fascia and deep tissue combined with your movement and your breath. We will not just focus on the "problem or pain" spots but will address the whole body as injury, trauma and habits can affect the body in unique ways amd the knock-on effects can be felt some distance away. SI is designed to restore structural balance, fluidity and ease of movement and breath, and a feeling of “comfortably fitting into your own skin”.
Together we work progressively towards YOUR goals with a series of sessions: the 'short MOT' consists of 3 sessions and the 'in-depth MOT' consists of 12 sessions. On each visit we address a different part of the body, both superficially and deep.
Ideally, there is a break of one to two weeks between sessions for you to integrate the treatments: breaking old habits and exploring new movements and postural patterns instead. There is the option to get homework exercises that will support your process.
Active Fascial Release
Active Fascial Release is a new approach to bodywork: you actively participate in your own treatment by being upright and moving while I work your soft tissues to identify, treat and re-educate whole body movement patterns.
Active Fascial Release gives you the opportunity to be engaged in your own treatment, helping you understand and thereby enhance the treatment outcome and ultimately educate yourself about the wonderful interrelationships through your whole body.

A thorough understanding of whole body posture and movement patterns guides me in the techniques I use to meet YOUR needs.
While I work on your fascia you will be asked to participate through movements of your body. Most of the work is completed on a treatment table, however with Active Fascial Release work you will be upright and moving as I work your soft tissues.
If movement training is called for we will identify and develop appropriate exercises together that help support the work from the session and which you can fit into your daily life.
Please choose clothing that leaves the back, legs, arms and other areas available for work but comfort is the primary consideration.
If you prefer, treatments can be done through clothes.
Movement re-education can be part of the session - wear comfortable clothes for that.
Homework exercises can be provided to help increase your awareness and any changes you are trying to achieve.

Testimonials
I feel amazingly better in my body after the treatment. No back pain, no pulling on my ribs, and - what I really didn't expect - no more feeling of instability in my pelvis.
Diana, 2013
Testimonials
You clearly have a great depth of experience and knowledge and are brilliant at explaining what I could do on my own to release the tension in my neck. Thank you!

Testimonials
I have wanted to tell you for ages that your advice to stop thinking of my leg/knee as a problem was the best advice I got during my marathon training. After your treatments I continued with the exercise and gradually took off the support bandages more regularly and for longer until I did not need it anymore. My knee continued to improve and is clearly much stronger now.
Melanie, 2017
